ADC: START WITH "RESONANCE" AND NOT WITH "REPETITION" 1




                              

“If you take a good person and put them in a bad environment, it is naturally incumbent on the person to do a bad thing. In the reverse sense, when a bad person is being put in a good environment, I am sure they will become better.”  (Babatunde 2025)

Now I want us to take note of our environment, yes, literarily, what is our environment like, where do our Leaders emerge from? We all can ponder on the answer to that question for the time being…

There are certain things I want Nigerians to wake up at, at this moment, we are allowing mediocre and do not hold our Leaders accountable. Unfortunately for us,  I can't imagine how can any of us, Nigerians, would defend Government of the day. Though with the exception of  those set of people who are directly or indirectly fed from the Government. On such situation, we can be of understanding that, the person is defending the system that put food on his/her table.

Let me start by asking, why do we create Political Parties in the country? Why do we join Political Parties and why do we adopt the so call democracy as our system of Government in Nigeria. Please don’t scold me for these questions that needed answers urgently because from my own little understanding from 1999 till date, no single action or inaction of the so call political parties has been for the interest of the nation call Nigeria. If there’s it was just few…maybe at the LG and State level but at the Federal level, I doubt it.

There are more but this is my theory with few points that prove that nothing “National” about the decision of our Leaders; President Obasanjo withheld Lagos state Revenue for years, is that decision is in National interest? Goodluck Jonathan extends Presidential Election in six weeks, for who? Claimed for security reason, but nothing changes after Six week other than, huge spending of  Reserve to buy more votes in the Presidential Election. 

President Buhari changes the color of National Currency, set date for the expiration for the existing ones. Unfortunately, Nigerians couldn’t access the new currency in Banks that led to the death of many Nigerians and families in chaos but Politicians and Bandits are flaunting the new currency on social media. Though PMB did apologize but the underline fact was that, that policy from PMB was for who, the Nigerians, Politicians, Emefiele or Personal interest?

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led many protests against increment in Pump Price, the records are there, he talks are lot about how Nigerians should not allow the then Government to take them for a ride on the insecurity issue. It shouldn’t  be a surprise anymore to see PBAT on inception of Emilokan Government, did  not only increase Pump Price but he radically removed Fuel subsidy, Float the Naira (against dollar) without any plan to mitigate the effect on the masses. They call "hard decision" (weakest I've ever known), now the fund spent in emergency cushion is more than the removed Subsidy and the so call palliative  is not working (considering the state of Economy of Nigeria after PBAT two years). Not only that, there’s challenges of Bad Road due to flood when PBAT try to visit Yelewata in Benue State where there was massacre with more than 200 lives gone (May Almighty God reposed there soul). 

After two years of PBAT in Government I discovered that all the protest he led, all oppositional threats and Inspirational Gingering of the masses was all because of his personal ambition, it looks manipulative!

When I look into these scenarios in the system of our Governance in Nigeria, I can see what’s lost; the love of the Nation. I may not be absolutely right but selectively, to extent that, policies made by the Government did not only negatively affect the masses Physically, Psychologically, Morally and Mentally but which might directly or indirectly lead loss of live of the masses. So, if the Government is trying to say that the people of the Nigeria should love their Nation, I think they are mirroring what they are doing to the so call masses. From the above point, did our Leaders love us? By my own  judgement, it is Capital NO! 

 For the National Assembly Members, how many bills has been passed that was originated from any of the  representative that tackles the main challenges within the representative locality. By representative in mean the Senators and House of REP members. Both of them are representative of a constituent, do they have perfect community? What are the bills that was rolled out to mitigate their community Challenges, by who, what challenges and when was it passed? It is an awful experience in Nigeria that nothing works anymore and all the three tiers of Government are doing nothing to safe the country…

For instant, with the recent flood in central Texas early Friday 4th of July, in the USA, the step rep Wes Virdell has been out with first responder in Kerr County to search for Survivor from the devastating flood.  Another rep Ken King was inspired by the devastating wild fire in panhandle where more than a million acre of land was burned and three people died.

Both these American Reps are now pushing for a bill of “Improving Disaster Warning System” due to their county’s devastating experience and loss of lives. They are now making that bill their priority because the protection of their constituents is their priority.

Not quiet long in Nigeria, a sitting Senator tasted what many people had experienced by one of our Local Airline and he went rogue at the Airport. When I listen to his comment, I noticed that he’s aware of that same anomalies in the system of the airline (boarding issues) but he did nothing  about it, but when he was directly affected, he was shouting around as if someone dies, disrupting the business of the day. They can’t think of the Bill to stop the anomalies and put things in order. That’s the Senator that was voted for, when he’s aware of the anomalies but kept quiet until his share was presented.

We had flood in Edo, Niger and Taraba state of recent, what exactly is both house of ours are doing about it (we know it is a Natural Disaster nothing much to control it but some of their counterpart are pushing for a bill to indicate warning “Improving Disaster Warning System), especially those that represent the people of that area. 

I can’t imagine what’s going be running in their head when it is time to Pad the National Budget?  All eyes will be in the space  like hawk  watching his prey and moreover all hands will be on deck. The same question goes to them, the concentrated Budget padding is for who, their constituents, their family or their personal interest?

On our Judiciary, I don’t know where to start from, ranges from President Obasanjo Era till ongoing PBAT era, I can say it’s from Bad to Worse. Uncle Dele Farotimi can say it all, when he said “there’s no Elite in Nigeria”, I totally agree with him, there’s none. How can a society can be this worse and you say there are elites, what are they really doing, is there no foresight by the elites? Uncle Farotimi is my hero!

When a court of law dismiss an entity and another court of law of same ranking admit same entity at the same time, using the same constitution. What do we call that and for who; the nation, the President or Nigeria as a whole?

Similar things are experience in both State and Local Government level but because both are bit closer to the masses it is not well pronounced.

                               “Take a great person in any situation, they will create abundance and it will be a life changing moment for everyone along with people around them.”   (Babatunde 2025) So, who are great person? By my own understanding, they are the Leaders, all kind of Leaders you can think of; Politically, Socially, Institutionally, Religiously and Ethnically. From the above quotes, which of our past and present leader (Democratically Elected Ones) has been great in solving our peculiar problem. I haven’t seen one or rather, by my judgement, they will solve like 10% easy problems and create multiple and bigger remaining 90% of another set of problems. It is unfortunate to note that, these Leaders won’t be a victim of such challenges, but the masses of this country.
