WHO IS SPEAKING FOR NIGERIA IN THE WORLD?
Please where are our ambassadors, who is speaking for us,
who are those that are relaying information about us in a diplomatic manner
to the world and is the space for lobbying Nigeria interest at the globe, now
empty? Anyone can add as many questions as possible to the countless number of
questions that are begging for answers…
For now, No one! Chronologically for the current Nigeria
Government, I consider the first Six month without Ambassadorial Appointment as
“General Cleaning”. For the next six
month, which is a year of Administration, it may be “Coincidence”, but after
2years, without any doubt, it is a “Choice of Unserious Government”, a
government that lost focuses and mute the Nigerian voice in a Global scale.
It is not uncommon for new administration to recall both
Political and Career representative of a country in the different States of the
world but considering the position and as indispensable as Ambassadorial role at the
Global stage, I don’t think any serious Government should get such appointments
delayed. What that means is that, Nigeria and Nigerians has no official voice in
the key countries, world powers and even smaller ones.
Why must everything, every decision of the entire populace (Local
or in Foreign Land) to be made right from, someone’s bedroom on a country house,
Aso Villa or in Paris. That kind of operations or coordination’s is not
Leadership but a Dictatorship by the “Shadow of Muting”.
We are not that docile to understand how important our
representation is to the entire world. Our ambassadors are our face in abroad,
they are the ones who secure trade deals, negotiate international support,
protect Nigeria Citizens abroad, represent Nigeria in worlds security talks and
Global Crisis, the count is on and on…
But for my love of truth and with no one representing us,
Nigeria is “Mute”, no one to push our interest, no one to represent us on a
global issue, even if the Mr President is ready to flown in every country for
any diplomatic or bilateral discussion on anything positive for the country,
who is there that’s going to do the follow up. Without our representative, who
are expected to push for our interest, we all are going to be taken as “unserious”.
Our international relation is K in the leg, we call it “Kleg”.
This is a country who’s the President is flying around the
world looking for investor globally, how much unseriousness do you think the
foreign investors will take such a country, are they going to be dealing with
the President with which have specific Term in the office, as an individual or
as a country with the right policies, with long term benefits.
So, for those who think that Nigeria is moving forward with
foreign Investment, I am not saying it is a false narrative that there have
been improvements but the bilateral deal among Nations, social wise or
investment wise is going through who, is it only the President and his closed
allies? Where is the transparency in whatever form, stability and most
importantly where is the future of such deal(s)? I believe we should have a rethink of such
narrative that Nigeria is attracting more foreign investors. Foreign investors
are not Dummies! Right now, Nigeria is being seen as “Unserious” and by reasoning
inductively, we becoming irrelevant under this present Government.
It is time to note that we needed our recognition, we needed
our voice, our place and most importantly our values and tradition to show to
the world. Who are those that will market us, display our value and traditions,
who are those that will represent us when opportunity present itself in the
foreign land?
This is a display of not being a country that is
diplomatically engulf in international relation and considered less priority to
Nigerians in foreign land because we lose the very first symbol that represent
us. Therefore, as of now, no one is speaking for Nigeria and even in crisis no
one is there to build or mend the bridges.
This is another sign of weak administration, the art of
unseriousness can’t be more than this, where delegation posed a big problem and
overall, it is absolutely myopic because you can’t claim to be fighting for the
interest of Nigerians home and abroad when you silenced people especially
Nigerians in abroad. This is a great betrayal to the Nation and the Nigerians
in the foreign land are having their own taste of it.
